As of today it is two weeks until Garry Tallent and his band play The Cluny in Newcastle. I think tonight they are playing the Stone Pony, and as a 40 year member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band i’m sure it is a high point.
Garry is bringing quite a lineup to the Cluny and beyond………Eddie Angel and Jimmy Lester from the Grammy Award winning band Los Straightjackets, Fats Kaplin (Jack White, Beck, Trisha Yearwood, Nanci Griffith), Americana sensation Kristi Rose, and the rest of the lineup rounded out with Johnny MacKinnon from my band the Roadtrippers, and Liverpudlian Etienne Gerrard playing bass for the baseman.
I’ll be opening the show and herding cats. It is a great honor for me personally to bring such a legend and gentleman to Newcastle—-a place that has shown me a lot of love through the years. Garry and I have been friends for 25 years and recently started working on a record together to honor my father. Garry is a huge Buddy Holly fan, and his enthusiasm runs to the early “Buddy and Bob” days as well, so it all made sense.
Anyway, the tickets are selling fast and there are only 20 or so left, so grab your tickets to the show at The Cluny in Newcastle today!
I love this song from Garry’s new cd………
And if you have no clue who I am and found yourself reading this……here is “Some Comfort” from my most recent cd………..
I’ll be pointing the van north on Friday night to drive to Campbeltown, Scotland for our show there on Saturday night. On Sunday we will head to one of my favourite places in the world……..the Gordon Arms Hotel in Yarrow, Scotland for a matinee show at 3pm.
This place in the world is simply stunning. It is perfect for a sunday drive and meal…….and you get me, Melvin Duffy, and Johnny Mackinnon as extra! Melvin plays steel with Squeeze, The Waterboys, etc, etc…….a real find.
So, please come join us this Sunday, March 12th at The Gordon Arms Hotel in Yarrow. Like I said, it is a 3pm show, so have a meal beforehand, or after……..I’ll be doing the same.
The Gordon Arms suffered a fire about a year and a half ago, and the owners have done an amazing job to save this gem and bring it back to life…….I respect anyone who really gives it their best shot. Let’s support them, because we are losing so many pubs and good venues around the world!
Ok, see you there. Reserve your spot…..it will sell out.
Time is moving quickly now. The days seem shorter. I’m trying to cram a bunch of stuff into the shrinking timeframe……..
Next week I’ll head to Scotland for a couple of shows…….both remote….awesome places to travel to…..Campbeltown, Scotland….home of the great Johnny MacKinnon, and The Gordon Arms Hotel in Yarrow.
The Yarrow show is a matinee on a sunday. The Gordon Arms serves lovely food, so I suggest Sunday lunch and then the show at 3pm, OR the show at 3pm and dinner afterward. Either way, it will be a lovely sunday getaway. Info below.
Sean Snook and Melvin Duffy will be traveling with me. Melvin plays steel for Squeeze, and many others….a legend, and you will remember Sean from two 50 States in 50 Days tours with me.
Right after Scotland I’ll headed to Nashville and the US…..keywords-Buddy and Bob, recording, Nashville, Texas, house concerts, documentary, BBC…….while stateside I’m open to house concerts, so if you want to host just let me know? March 14th-28th time period, and then again in April. Thoughts?
I’m now finished booking the Garry Tallent from the E Street Band tour…….i’ll be opening the tour, and steering the ship. I’m super excited about it. The tickets are on sale now, and a few of the shows are either sold out or nearing sell out, so get your tickets today!
For now……think about coming to, or sending a friend to the shows in Scotland. The Yarrow date will be sold out soon, so get your tickets now. Saturday, March 11th-Campbelltown, Scotland-The Seafield HotelGet your tickets now! Sunday, March 12th-Yarrow, Scotland-The Gordon ArmsGet your tickets now!
