The guitar in this photo is special. My trusty old Takamine. I haven’t really played it in years. I bought it prior to moving to Hollywood when I was 22. This photo was taken at Genghis Cohen on the night I got my record deal with A&M. In the photo from left to right, Tim Godwin of Taylor Guitars, Nigel Twist from The Alarm (one of my favourite bands in high school), Paul Bushnell (The Commitments, Elton John, Tim McGraw, etc), and my friend Jean Anne Chapman (The Babys)……..those were special times.
I’ll be picking up my Takamine this Sunday for the weekly “Songwriter’s Campfire” live webcast. I stopped doing the live webcast awhile back, but really missed seeing everyone in the chat each week. So, tune in if you can this Sunday, Jan. 26th from 6pm to 8pm London time. You can find the event page here.
I have been quietly recording the new record, ostensibly called “Good Thing” over the past couple of years. Today, I received the mastered version of the first single off the record, “Adios”………I’ll be releasing it just prior to the UK/Ireland tour on all the streaming outlets, but mainly Spotify and Apple Music. I’ll let you know the second it is available. The plan is to record more in February in Nashville…….get the record mixed and mastered and completed prior to a tour……..and trust me……this will be a special one in February 2026. Follow me on Spotify.
Since when did politics start taking over our brainspace? I’m sick of politics and never really like the politician type. SO, I’ve started making a concerted efforts to listen to music………last year I consumed a lot of music. Spotify gave me a year end summary of my most played songs, so I incorporated them into my “Songwriter’s Campfire” weekly playlist. The first song “The Best Part of My Life” was written by an old friend and co-writer of mine, Marc Jordan……….simply stunning and heartbreaking. Follow “Songwriter’s Campfire” and add one of your most played songs. I only ask that you attempt to keep the tone of the playlist. If your addition strays too far from the vibe of the week…….I’ll have to cut it.
Ok, so…….the tour. We will be touring through England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland in March/April. Tickets are on sale now. These shows will be intimate, so get your tickets now!
